Project Runway: LTE Version

This is Project Runway: LTE Version Season 1 Finale. 32 Creations. 4 Gay Designers. 1 Winner.

For Project Runway fans, this is your chance to be the judge and choose the next Big Gay Fashion Icon. The four remaining Designers (Lyka Bergen, Mama O, Ekra Tan, and Jezebel Patel) were given $30 each to create their own collection with a wedding dress for a finale piece. Each has the chance to show their collection at the LTE's Fashion Week, which is Today.

In a few minutes, we'll experience the glamour, the excitement, and the dirty side of Fashion because..... Fashion is every Gay's Passion.

Lets begin the show:

Part 1: Lyka Bergen's and Mama O's

Part 2: Ekra Tan's and Jezebel Patel's

Clap! Clap! Clap! Bravo! Wagi! Potah, ano ba yun? Tse!

Now, be the Judge. Rate the designers from Winner to 4th place. Remember this is not ANTM. We are looking for the Best Designer, not the Top Model (We know naman kung sino ang wagi dyan, noh? Hello? Insecure-mode itoh!). This is all about creativity, style, cohesiveness, and panache. This is not who you know, dahil pang Job Fair lang yan.

The more honest your opinions are, the more we appreciate it. Lait na kung lait, mga bakla! We are all ready for those because Fashion Has No Mercy.

Auf Wiedersehen. Ingat!

(Note: Judging should be 1st to 4th for if not, your vote wont be considered as valid. We would also lyk to know which design from all the creations presented you think is the best.. and worst. Tenkya!)

I scored every design from 1-10 (10 as the best design). Before my ranking, I would like to say that all 4 designers were able to convey their style and aesthetic effectively, producing (mostly) chic and innovative designs. I'm jealous of all your talent. Anyway, my pick for the best design was Ms. Ekra's gray dress. And for my rankings and their average scores:

4th- Mama O (6.75)
3rd- Lyka (7.25)
2nd- Ekra (7.35)
1st- Jezebel (7.5)

Congratulations everyone! Here's my attempt of being a designer (using target and WalMart plastic bags and tape) http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/3445/1996/1600/IMG_1500.jpg

YEY! Finally na release na.

And my verdict: From first place to fourth place.

Jezebel Patel: As in, walang bias ha, pero in fairness nagmukhang damit talaga ang mga designs mo. And I really like the Geisha outfit. Anong nangyari? Pero overall, ikaw ang pinaka patok.

Ate Lyka: GRABE KA! GRABE KA! Sexxy na horror, alam mo un? haha. Ganun ang na feel ko. Mysteriosa ang dating! And most of all panalo ang wedding gown!!! as in!

Mama O: Ung pink dress, i love it pero everything else.. CHAKA! chaka dolll!

Ekra Tan: NO COMMENT. Pero maka comment na nga. Di ko na feel ang style mo te. Basta, wala lang. Pero proud ako sa effor mo.

Overall! Pinasaya ninyo ang munting BITUIN na na iistress dahil final exams na!!! as in. thank you talaga LTE, hindi ako mabubuhay kung wala kayo.

BITUIN

Deez eez Kikerla Kunichiwa Comaneci, Russian-Japanese mudel now leveng her en Hang Kang.

Twaz a byudeepool sight, them Project Runweeey. I hab do zey: Kudow, kudow, kudow to ze 4 upcoming dezaynerz ov er taym. Fer dat, my jadgmen:

(Tagalog translator puhlez) Me richness sa fabrics used ang 3 designers, sans Ekra. Mas nakapagbigay ito ng edge over her.

She is my top 4.

Mix and match. Wearability. Nag-appeal si Ekra sa Paris Hiltons of our time. Mama O appealed to the Ruffa Gutierrezes (and Anabel Ramas). Lyka appealed to my spinster aunts (and some funky ones, aunts pa rin). Jezebel appealed to the tall people.

I tried not to be blinded by the fabric used by Jezebel although I must say posibleng ito agad ang unang pansinin ng mga judges.

Mukhang panglola of the 1980s. Parang Daster of the 21st Century ang ilan. You're my top 3.

Between Mama O and Jezebel Patel ako nahirapan.

I realized nagawa nyang makapagmix and match ng textiles na lubos kinagiliwan. I enjoyed the trains, short and long, although yung orange ang may pinakamataas na score sa akin.

Best designs go to Lyka's halter, Mama O's kaftan, 6th gown and minis, Ekra's grey gown, Jezebel's geisha dress and the long dresses. Wedding gown goes out to O.

Dapat 1st ang unang imemention diba? So after watching the videos 10 times until forever:

1 - Jezebel
2 - Mama O
3 - Lyka
4 - Ekra

(inisip ko, what if Ekra dressed Jezebel and so on and so forth with their own designs using the different fabrics, Jezebel's designs would still stand out for modernity and prayerfulness.)

LYKA - The first half of your collection has that cohesion, but it got lost down at the end. I very much love the wedding gown, and I know a lot of people who will disagree with me on that, but it sticks out to the rest of your designs. I am also confused about the inspiration of your collection (Randy Blue, a porn director) since yours is the most conservative among the four, or maybe you only meant for the color blue.

MAMA O - Overall it is cohesive, but I find it lacking in direction. I thought you were more concerned on whether this fabric would go well to the next, but kinda ignored the design aspect of it.

EKRA TAN - Sorry, but I do not see Paris in your collection. Probably more like New York or London. I also do not see cohesiveness in your collection. I was very disappointed.

JEZEBEL PATEL - I like the surprises your brought with every design. Some of your dresses have that "Riyo Mori" vibe to it, which I like. However, you cannot seem to decide whether to go theatrical or commercial.

One of you will be named winner, three of you will be "auf'd".

Ekra, you are out. (4th)

Mama O, you are out. (3rd)

And now for the winner...

Congratulations to...

Jezebel Patel (1st)

That means Lyka you are out (2nd).

Lyka - Among the four collections, you adhere most to your theme. But you're obviously poorer choice of materials (donna, bedsheets, etc) did not give justice to your talent and creativity!

Mama O - You've shown us you are capable of creating unique pieces that women would actually buy and wear!

Ekra - There's nothing new in your design except your gowns which were fantastic!

Jezebel - You've amazed me with your choice of materials (colors and texture) and the sructure and design of your collections. Uniqueness collides with wearability and fashion.

------- >
And the results are

4th - Ekra
3rd - Mama O
2nd - Lyka
1st - Jezebel

Worst Design - Pakistani Wedding Gown or Lola Bride of Ali by Lyka

Best Design - Geisha Swan by Jezebel

Yun lang !!! Ang lalandi nyo!

I made notes, watched the video several times and argued with myself over the whole thing.

FAVORITES
Lyka's pneumatic wedding dress that reminds me of Yohji Yamamoto's Inuit experimentations; Ekra's Gres-inspired gray dress, which could have been a strong concept given your dexterity in fabric manipulation; Mama O's caftanish number with multilayered trains; and Jezebel's opening dress because it truly encapsulated what she wanted to say with her collection.

ANALYSIS
LYKA - You lost me in your concept dear. I was expecting an interpretation of hooker chic ala Versace but what I got was more like a train wreck of ethnic Russian matriyoshka and Carrie Bradshaw circa 2003. The first look was too weak and got overpowered by more of your designed pieces like the 2nd look which I find lovely. Your combination of prints and fabric is exceptional. Dries van Noten isdatchu? Except for your color I don't find your collection very cohesive.

Too tight, too short, too long, too open, too unmade. Although you succeeded in giving an African, Mother Earthy vibe pero hindi na sya fresh, sori. I guess masyado kang na-bog down sa concept mo. Your choice of fabric and texture is interesting, though.

Ngek! I love the gray dress and your wedding gown. There's poetry to it. I wished you've explored your avant garde side than being trapped in a hooker mode.

JEZEBEL - I don't find your collection very practical. It's like you can only wear it once and people will never forget it na. Your choices of fabric and color is very difficult to work into an existing wardrobe, too. But I must commend you for the drama, the artistry and the flair you've given to your theme.

MY VOTE
1st - Jezebel - Mare, have you ever thought of working for fashion? Apply ka sa Project Runway! I was really impressed with what you did. Kinilabutan ako! The variety of looks are exceptional and the progression of the pieces is wonderful. I think it's wearable, unconventional and inspired. Congratulations! Pang-finale ka nga. John Galliano would have been so proud.

2nd - Lyka - I really love your more ethnic pieces. Your strength is in draping and 'away from the body' pieces. I don't think mainstream designs is for you. And Vivienne Westwood would agree with me.

Styling lang yata ang nagawa mo except for the last 2 pieces. Halo-halo espesyal yata ang theme mo mare. May menswear inspired, may fur hoody, may draping, may poncho top, may cowboy, may sailor...anobatalagaanggustomong mangyari! hehehe Sabi ni Donatella Versace magparty na lang daw kayo.

Congratulations sa lahat! Bravo!

OMG, this post made my day!!!

Maganda ang pagka-maximize mo ng patterns ng fabric to give shape and movement to the dress. NGUNIT, sa first three pieces parang dinaan mo na lang sa print ng tela ang damit at wala na akong nakitang craftmanship. Over all, may coherence ang mga pieces. Parang resort collection; pang Maldives at Phuket.

Ekra... win ka sa styling! Very urban ang moda. Love ko ang fourth piece. Sya ang favorite piece ko sa lahat lahat (including the pieces of the other designers). Sa totoo lang, I would wear everything you made (parang magka-size tayo, choz!)... well, except the wedding dress pala (chakz!). Parang clothes mo ang pinakamadaling ibenta.

Miss Patel... nag tumbling at mega applause ako sa pagpasok mo... how Christian Dior of you! And that dress, love ko cya (favorite ko among your designs). Di ko bet ang JS prom dress mo ha (2nd piece)... very 80s. At di ko rin feel ang mga muskiterong gula-gulanit (that net head dress reminded me of one March Jacobs, or was that Louis Vuitton, fashion show). Pero sa lahat ng collections, ikaw ang may good mix of wearable and experimental clothes.

Bilang hatol:

1st: Ekra
2nd: Miss Patel
3rd: Mama O
4th: Lyka

First - Jezebel Patel - Gorgeous! Tang-inang opening yan! I think it's great that all the colors match but towards the end you seem to have been carried away from your theme. Still my winner though.

Ekra Tan - This collection is very strong. Bitch worked the runway like she's the hottest bitch that ever bitched. Yung finale nga lang, ano yun? This could've been my winner if not for that final ensemble.

Mama O - I like this collection. It's very modern gypsy. You could've skipped that super short blue number however. Si Mother Earth nagputa? Can you please, please tell me what this track is? Please.

Fourth: Lyka - Sorry. I think the first piece was a little to weak to open the show. The last 2 ones however are nice the finale being very couture.

Great show! Sana may Season 2.

4th Ekra---ur designs are simple and wearable but they lack the edge...everyone has or did that...

3rd O---only one design has the project runway essence...which is dated,,,edgy,,,wearable...and that is the 1st dress...the rest forgetable...

2nd Patel---innovative,,,sexy,,, and edgy...but what happened to the last 3 dresses...the dress was the same with the rest of the world...the wedding gown was awful...

winner Lyka---the execution was perfect...the drapings were beauty...but just bear in mind that dress must be for comfort coz it was too heavy for the eyes...the 1st dress,,,the details at the back was very nice...btw what happened to ur boobs???check 2:09...was saggy...was that 3banigs of dyan daily???

2. Ekra tan....Iluvit! very wearable...flaterring to the female body...edgy yung gray dress..luv the hair and definetely most improved walk...wagi ka lola!

3.Mama O...like the colors..reminds me of africa especially Nigeria..so talagang suited sa theme mo na mother earth..

4. Lyka..sori po..forgetable..I only remember the last one for the wrong reason I think you put a duvet on?
very unflattering sa female shape..
well you can improve...

And the 3rd-runner up is...
... Lyka Bergen

The designs showed a lot of promise but in the end they failed miserably. Blame it on your model who didn't make much of the clothes he was wearing. And the walk??? Horrible!

The 2nd runner-up is...
... Ekra Tan

You showed a lot of fierceness in the beginning then you fizzled out in the middle and in the end you just lost it. The last piece was just plain grotesque. What the F were you thinking?!?!

In the event that the winner cannot fulfill her duties, the first runner up will take her place.

The 1st runner-up is...
... Jezebel Patel

And the new winner of project runway LTE is MAMA O!

Jezebel, your designs were whimsical and theatrical at times. Some were modern and fresh but in the end your line lacked cohesion and did not adhere to the theme.

Mama O, I was expecting Jezebel to win hands down and you were originally the third in my list but after watching your fashion show again I believe you are the rightful winner.

Even though your thunder thighs distracted me a lot, your designs were cohesive, wearable, chic, hip and the functionality of each piece is superb.

omg. everyone was fucking fabulous. and i watch project runway & ANTM religiously so i will look at all 4 designers with those shows criteria.
i rank designer4: Jezebel Patel as the top winner for being designed from a budget of 30 dollars...the dresses & styling looked tre expensive, chic & top notch creative.
and the whole collection looked cohesive. bravo!
designer3: Ekra. brilliant and with such attitude. the last one reminded me of a victor & rolf design. another collection that went together well.
designer1: Lyka Bergen. excellent styling choices. total attitude.
designer2: Mama O, your collection screamed exotic and simple chic. simple not as in dumb but as in classic.
i especially loved the soundtracks chosen for all the catwalk. the sound said much for the clothes and made you want to pay attention.
brilliant, sooper fantastically awesome.
cheers.... :)

Congrats sa LTE! My gawd, production number ito. Ang hirap nitong gawin ha?

Heto ang aking feedback.

Lyka's design and choice of colour is so safe (but then again, kaya nga randy blue di ba?), a bit conventional i would say. Mama O's meanwhile is too gypsy, a bit matronix I must say. Ekra's design is simple but very wearable. Jezebel's is bold, too bold that only tessa prieto valdez could wear them. However, hindi natakot ang bruha to think out of the box.

Faves:

Lyka's # 5 design
Mother O- I love # 5 and 6
Ekra - # 3
Jezebel # 1

If I were to choose, heto ang boto ko:

1st Jezebel
2nd Ekra
3rd Lyka
4th Mama O
